Justice is done

Law and order has been the theme this month with regular sessions on the Manor Court, the Trial of Sir Edward and Forest law

This has been a great one to explore with people, getting to the nitty gritty of peoples history at ground level in the14th century.

The manor court is very interactive,  dealing with real cases from manor rolls in all their eccentricity.  The nomination of the village ale taster always raoses a laugh.

Sir Edward Dalyngrigges trial is based on the actual court records and is a great glimpse into the real power politics of personal and political rivalries in those times. It brings in murder, the peasants revolt and court intrigue in a very visveral manner. I particularily enjoy playing the suprise prosecution witness!

Forest Law is an eye opener for most visitors witt a real exploration of a nowadays unknown area of life in the times, sir Edward was from a forester background and is very important to explore this in the context of his rise to influence and the larger context of his trial. "Otter bothering" has become our "barnacle goose" of this month.

Public feedback continues to be good and as the weather improves the crowds for our performabces grow unril at the end of the day we have shouted oourselves hoarse.

Next month I shall be soft launching my new Mason persona and costume!
